Privacy Policy

Effective date: 19 October 2026

Your privacy is important to us at academi.cx Inc., the operator of the academi.cx website, software, and services. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect, how we use and protect it, and how you can manage your data.

Information Collection

Personal Information: We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, such as your name, email address, and any academic documents you upload to the platform.

Document Uploads: When you upload documents for analysis, they are checked using Turnitin for plagiarism detection and our in-house AI detector for AI-generated content. Your documents are not stored in Turnitin’s global repository, ensuring they remain private and inaccessible to future submissions.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymous data such as your IP address, browser type, and access times to improve our services and enhance the user experience.

Sign-in History: Each time your account is signed in to, or a sign-in is refused, we record the time, IP address, and browser it came from. We use this to protect your account and to answer your questions about it, keep only the most recent entries, and delete it with your account.

Error Reports: If you encounter an error while using academi.cx, details from your session around that time may be recorded, such as the pages you visited, what they displayed, and the steps that led to the error, so that we can find and fix the problem. What you type into forms, including your password, is not included.

Use of Information

Service Provision: Your personal and document information is used solely to provide our academic document-checking services. This includes generating similarity reports through Turnitin and AI detection reports through our in-house detector.

Service Improvement: We may use aggregated, non-personally identifiable information to improve the functionality and user experience of academi.cx.

Communication: We may contact you via email to provide updates on our services, respond to inquiries, or notify you of any changes to our platform or this Privacy Policy.

Information Sharing

Turnitin: Documents you ask us to check for similarity are submitted to Turnitin so that the report can be generated. Your document is not added to Turnitin’s global repository, so it remains private and will not be matched against anyone’s future submissions.

Service Providers: We rely on a small number of providers to run the Service, and each one receives only what its part requires: Stripe for payments (your card details go to Stripe — we never see or store a card number), Postmark for the emails we send you, Cloudflare for storing and delivering your files, Neon for our database, Vercel for hosting the site, RunPod for the GPU our own AI detector runs on, and Sentry for diagnosing errors. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google tells us the name and email address on that account. These providers act on our instructions and may not use your documents or personal information for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of academi.cx and its users.

Data Security

We employ commercially acceptable security measures, including encryption, firewalls, and secure hosting, to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Access and Control: You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information and uploaded documents at any time. Visit your account settings to make changes.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of any promotional communications by following the unsubscribe link in emails we send.
